From the September 6th, 2007 meeting of the

Board of Directors of the Avalon Homeowners’ Association

 

 

Linda Smith called the meeting to order at 7:03 P.M.

 

Board members not present:  Sammy Barmer & Scott Reinhardt

Residents Present:  9

 

¨       Minutes from the previous Board Meeting were reviewed and Mitch motioned that they be approved as written.  Dan seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.

 

Treasurers Report:

 

¨       Michele Harris gave the Treasurer's Report.  The pool repairs and insurance premiums have been paid.  The Association is still ahead of budget for the year by around $7,000

¨       Mitch motioned that the Treasurer's Report be accepted.  The motion was seconded by Scott and carried unamiously.

 

Committee Reports:

 

¨       Covenants:

o        Two vandalism incidents at the pool have been reported to the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department.

o        Lawn maintenance and lot appearance was stressed yet again.

o        The proper parking of recreational vehicles, boats, ATV's, and etc was stressed again.  These items should be parked in a garage or behind a fence and out of street-view.  A fence MUST be present to block the view.

¨       Social:

o        There will be a neighborhood garage sale on 10/20/2007.  Signs will be posted and advertisements will be made in the local newspapers.

o        The next Avalon Day may be held in early November.

o        Anyone who would like to volunteer to head or help with social events should contact a board member.

 

¨       Clubhouse & Pool:

o        New tables and chairs have been purchased for the clubhouse.

o        The Board is going to move forward on the purchase and installation of security cameras for the pool area.

 

¨       Landscaping:

o        The Board has inquired and is to receive specifications for the repair and maintenance of the retention ponds from the Rankin County Engineer.

o        There has been and continues to be a raw sewage leak from the pumping station belonging to the apartments into the retention pond on East Abbey Place.  The Board is working with the Environmental Protection Agency to compel the apartments to fix and clean up the problem.

o        It was noted that the owners of lots that adjoin any drainage ditches are responsible for the maintenance of those drainage ditches and should not cause them to become blocked.

 

¨       Manager's Report:

o        Charles is to paint the fire hydrants throughout the neighborhood.

o        Entergy is to remove the downed trees and stumps that their contractor left behind up in the front of the neighborhood.

o        New, conforming stop sign posts have been installed.

o        Reflective strips and reflectors are to be installed by the county at the new stop signs.

o        Clubhouse ceiling has been fixed.

 

¨       Welcome:

o        No report

 

Old Business:

 

¨       Dog feces continues to be a problem.  If you walk your dog, clean up behind it.

 

New Business:

 

¨       None discussed.

 

Linda made a motion to close the meeting.  The motion was seconded by Dan, and having no further business, the meeting was adjourned by Linda at 8:18 P.M.
